My first private hospital experience (Fundación Santa Fe Bogotá)

Kidney stone, 2am, taxi to Fundación Santa Fe in Bogotá. Three things I want US people to know:

  1. Walk-in to private hospital ER is fine. They take cash, card, or international insurance.
  2. CT scan happened within 90 minutes of arrival. In Seattle I would have waited 4-6 hours.
  3. Total bill including CT, IV, meds, and 4-hour stay: $480 USD. Paid in full at discharge with my US credit card. No insurance fight.

I'm a healthcare consultant in my past life. This was extraordinary.

As a US physician, the speed and the price are both honestly remarkable.
